From Wikipedia: EPUB is an e-book file format with the extension .epub
that can be downloaded and read on devices like smartphones, tablets, computers, or e-readers. It is a free and open standard published by the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF).
While this blog is not commercially oriented, I will shamelessly promote the books published by Warde Publishers, that are available through Apple iBooks on this page.
The books are all EPUB based of course. There are many workflows to publish in EPUB, but the path followed for all the Warde Publishers publications is using the InDesign, Export to .epub functionality.
The path to creating a professional EPUB-based product is generally a little more involved than introductory sites promoting an “easy way to publish your own novel” might indicate.
But it is well worth the effort. If you can publish an electronic book that sells anything, do it. Not having to print and store physical product is publishing’s savior. Why the book industry’s transition to digital appears to be different than that of the music industry might be a good discussion point. Thanks for any thoughts.
